ONLINE COVER Statins Complement OSA Treatment. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common medical condition associated with temporary cessation of breathing during sleep. It is usually treated by applying continuous positive airway pressure during sleep, as shown in this image. Now, Emin et al. have found that drugs called statins may also have a beneficial effect in OSA by protecting blood vessels from complement-induced damage caused by intermittent oxygen deprivation.
