ONLINE COVER Breathing in Nanovaccines. Delivering vaccines directly to the lungs is gaining traction as a desirable alternative to needle-based immunization. In this week’s issue, Li and colleagues show that liposomal nanocapsules (in blue) can carry a vaccine load directly to the mucosal lining in the lungs, locally and systemically protecting mice from viral infection. The nanocapsule vaccine was also able to treat cancer in a mouse model, suggesting broad application of this nano-based delivery method. [CREDIT: V. ALTOUNIAN/SCIENCE TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE]
