Taking the Pulse of a Community

In August 2011, scientists and policy-makers held a conference entitled Using IT to Improve Community Health: How Health Care Reform Supports Innovation. One of the conference sessions was entitled “Social Networking: Community Connections and Health Outcomes.” This meeting reports a Web-based system for automating and improving the workflow of community health workers to promote ongoing, real-time assessment of medically underserved and underrepresented populations.
