ONLINE COVER Adrenergic Guidance. The image shows a computer-enhanced scan of a human brain with an intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH, red area). After ICH, there is an increase in circulating monocytes that subsequently enter the brain parenchyma and modulate neuroinflammation. Shi et al. investigated the mechanisms mediating the impact of ICH on hematopoiesis and showed that activation of the adrenergic system by ICH triggered the production of Ly6Clow patrolling monocytes that entered the brain and reduced inflammation. These results may help the development of protective therapies to reduce brain inflammation after ICH. [CREDIT: SCOTT CAMAZINE/SCIENCE SOURCE]
