ONLINE COVER The Great Library of Alexandria by O. Von Corven. This 19th-century German engraving represents the ancient Library of Alexandria, humanity’s first attempt at sharing knowledge on a massive scale. Although it succumbed to civil war and neglect at about 400 C.E., the Internet provides a modern, unprecedented opportunity to duplicate its mission. On p. 9cm8, Munos and Chin argue that the sharing of information and resources among pharmaceutical companies and academic and government laboratories globally can re-energize pharmaceutical innovation.
